I think of this comic as being the most important in terms of my development into a comic book artist. With this story I really began to find my voice. There was a certain lack of direction in all the comics that came before it. The idea for this comic came on a lonely Saturday in Chicago in 2002. I was sitting waiting for the bus, and I realized that I hadn't talked to anyone yet that day. As I looked at the rest of the day, I realized that it was entirely possible that all of it would pass without me having anything more than minimal interaction with any other person. This was loneliest I've ever been. There were books and music that got at the feelings I had, but I couldn't think of any comics, so I decided to make one. This comic was drawn pretty quickly on a Saturday and Sunday (another big break from all the comics I had done before)(I'd spend weeks on a single page).
